ICM290 Ignition Control Module Honeywell S8610U3009

Control on furnace was flaky. Ordered this control and installed. ICM290 faulted out and indicated low secondary voltage. After testing and conversations with ICM determined defective.Arranged replacement with seller. In the meantime the factory control worked fine. Since the furnace was outdoors and it was very cold I put the 2nd ICM control on the shelf waiting for the factory control to fail or spring. Factory control worked flawlessly through winter.In spring installed the 2nd ICM290. Faulted out again on low voltage. I replaced transformer, still the ICM290 shows low voltage. Since the original was working I put the ICM290 on the shelf.This winter factory control started acting up. Replaced factory 40VA transformer with 75VA transformer. ICM290 still faults out on low secondary voltage.Going to have to pop for a good control instead of this junk. Out $100.

Don't waste your money or time with this product. I own a HVAC company and have bought 12 of these module from other sources over the last two heating seasons. Out of the 12 I have purchased, 6 have failed. They have been all different failures and no rhyme nor reason. I have an open dispute with ICM at this time as I feel they need to compensate me for the my loss. Do yourself a favor and just spend the money for the Honeywell S8610U3009. Dad always said any job done by half is never done, so it right the first time. Amazon has the best price for the Honeywell of anybody. I cant buy them from the suppliers I spend over $100,000.00 a year with for what you can get it here.

Installed on 11/2012 for $197 (product price before labor). Failed on 12/14/2014. Don't accept this model from your installer.

Installed at the beginning of winter. Stopped working within 3 months. Not as reliable as very similar modules manufactured by Honeywell that have been working for years.
