Great looking bat.
Im from Scotland, lived in the USA for 17 years, my kids come visit me from Scotland and they love the batting cages. They love that they have their own bat instead of the nasty aluminum ones the cages provide, well worth the money.

Solid for the money
This is a pretty good bat. I took it to the batting cages and it hit well. The barrel is a bit thin at only 2 inches and the one inch handle is slightly larger than a "standard" bat at an inch. I did notice that the bat was a bit heavier than bats of equal length despite a smaller barrel. The wood is hard and dense. I brought it to a friend that does wood working stuff and he said it looked like black locust wood, which if true, is extremely hard and dense wood. So i hit some cinder blocks for fun and was able to break them.I think where this bat would shine is in the defense category. With a narrower barrel and harder wood than ash, this would be great as a defense weapon. I may buy a 21 or 25 inch bat dedicated for self defense. For less than 30 bucks, why not? The bat is more balanced and easier to swing in case you had to defend yourself. Maybe I'll wrap some barbed wire around the end or throw in some round hammer screws to increase effectiveness. Maybe not.Bottom line, for the price, this is a pretty solid practice bat if you just want to mess around on the ball field. If you're playing competitively, I'd go with something else for game play. For self defense, this is pretty great but again, I'd go with a smaller size that's easier to swing.

Purchased for self defense
I purchased this product specifically for self defense. I am presently surprised at the weight. For some reason I imagined it would be slightly heavier than pine, but it is really solid. It packs a wallop. Because I don't have anything to test it on with a full strength blow, like a punching bag, I can't say whether or not it will crack upon contact. But I would be truly surprised if it did, based on the construction.I chose the 29" version. It has a shiny coat on the body of the bat and the very top and very bottom are flat, uncoated wood.It also fits my hands perfectly. I'm a 5'5 female and regularly find things just too large for my grip, but this is perfect. I can wield it with ease and have no issues gripping in motion. It comes with grip tape, but I prefer the wood feel and grip size as it is.

Non adhesive grip tape, but otherwise good
The grip tape isn’t at all adhesive, and I have to glue it on for it to stay in place, and the stickers you can peel off leave residue that’s hard to get off. Otherwise, this bat is great.

Sense of security
Feels good in my hands, and the perfect size to keep in my tent when I’m camping. Those mosquitos don’t stand a chance now.

great grip
Im keeping this in my car for just such emergencies. Handle is thicker than average baseball bat and has a good feel. Im sure that it won't break on a wood be attacker.
