I was disappointed when the package arrived and I found that the lava rocks were about the diameter of a nickel. I could have failed to carefully read the item's description prior to so I'm not blaming the vendor.

I had been looking for the small lava rocks for my smoker locally but could never find them. These worked out perfect!

Great Value

I use this for a planted fish tank along with aquarium dirt/substrate. It works great for building hills and creating filler for a fraction of the cost. I have run my tank for 6 weeks now with no problems at all. This review is for you guys looking for Lava rock and not wanting to spend 5x as much in the Pet department.Hey Sellers....just re-list this product and sell it for aquariums- you will probably sell twice as many.

The only thing I dislike is the sizes of granules because they are not small enough for me to mix soil.

Not what I thought

First use these popped like crazy sending hot coals airborne. Burned my leg and a hole in my outdoor couch.

Nice size chucks of lava rock. My fireplace needed un update. The old black rock was full of dead moths and my grandsons little toys and crayons. Kids. Lol anyway changed from black to red and looks a lot better. I can recommend Stan rail lava ricks.

Used to top up our gas fire table, did the job well. Perfect size

Good product works great in my propane fit pit instead of the glass beads. Like this product

I ordered 1-2cm twice. The first order was fine, but the second time received 10 lbs of pea size pieces or smaller. It was a waste of money. I will try a different brand.

I always use lava rock as media in my aquarium filters, and it is an odious task to buy a regular bag of barbeque lava rock and sort it by size for use. I bought both the red and the charcoal colours to use in my filters, put in mesh bags ( so they don't spread out) to add height under aquascape mountains, and as a top dressing for looks. A very nice product and I would recommend it.

I wanted a lava rock substrate in an aquarium. I think there are papers showing it's great for biological filtration. Obviously this is unrelated to barbecues, so I want the seller to know that some fishkeepers like this kind of stuff. And buying filter media in such large amounts would be an arm and a leg in most cases, so I love this. And I like the brick colour! And the size is pretty much what I wanted. Creates a huge labyrinth of nooks and crannies for copepods and ostracods to hide in! Loving it.
