This product is not adequate for fields used by older age groups using steel cleats. The rubber compound is not durable and wears very rapidly from steel cleats. Our old (more expensive) plate on our high school/middle school softball field lasted 8 years under the same conditions (turning once every other year). With this plate, both front and back edges were totally worn out after only one year, making the adjacent sides unusable. We plan to turn it, use the opposite surface next season and then trash it, replacing with a better quality plate. Also, the hollow core is oversized, which makes manufacturing cheaper but results in unacceptable shrinkage bulges in the four finished surfaces during the molding process. The bulges do not affect pitching, but make it difficult to level the plate during installation. With that said, this product would probably work fine for younger players in a backyard practice area, but don't expect it to serve well in a high school, college, or public park setting.
