In most cases you will not notice a difference in speed. You can also over saturate a network if your router in not up to par to handle the added traffic if you added a bunch of switches. There are a lot more factors to consider but if you are looking to replace a wireless connection with a switch I would say you will be fine and notice added speed benefits.
