Perfect gift for my dad!

instead of leaving in the box and not enjoying my selection of watches - i thought i'd best invest in a way for presentation and safe-keeping. didn't want to go overboard £50 etc, but something worthwhile and the perfect size not to over-face with spare slots i've not enough watches for.saw this and the good reviews and it ticked all the boxes - no pun ;-)+ve's* major: looks and feels wel made, nice faux leather feel and stitching* major: sturdy box and glass lid will not scratch or fade if it was plastic* major: very decent price and quick delivery* moderate: lovely letter inside passionately offering help and wanting feedback, nice touch* moderate: spare slots i'll offer my lady to keep her ones safe, bonus man-point ;-)* moderate: i can use the spare slots for linkages and watch tools too, cufflinks, rings, microfibre cloths etc-ve's* major: none* moderate: the single black ribbon to keep the lid only falling back part-way looks a bit flimsy and there's only 1 so when/if that fails, the hinges will take more strain* minor: sponges slightly small, so lady wrists etc will need a good push to fit the strap around and once wrapped around the watches slightly rattle in their sectioncan't fault, excellent... will revisit in a few months and update if it's kept it's sheen

I like this box, it seems well made and although the exterior is described as faux leather, (which it is), it feels good quality, the display window is quite big, and there is good clearance between the lid and all of the various watches I have stored inside.I do have a few minor niggles though, first is the cushions have solid internal formers (well covered in soft leather like fabric), which means if you have a small wrist then you will struggle to fasten your watch strap around them, if like me you have clasp type straps and small wrists, I manage just ok, but my wife cannot fasten hers and so has had to choose another type.Secondly the lid has a restraining strap, (thin fabric), which is a good thing or it would be if it allowed the lid to open more than 90 degrees, when you open it the strap does it’s job of restraining the lid to 90 degrees but this leaves the lid just about in balance, which means any slight lean towards the catch side of the box and the lid won’t stay open unless you hold it open, and if it will stay open any slight knock will unbalance it and it will slam shut, possibly damaging the glass in the lid.And finally the watch cushions are a little looser than I would like, maybe because my watches are over tight on them, but a softer more cushion like cushion would stop this happening. This looseness would make the box unsuitable to be used as a travelling box in my opinion, but then its not marketed as a travelling box.I know I have written more negative things than positive, but make no mistake I like this box, it’s just that with a little more thought it could be so much better.The acid test is would I buy it again, yes I would.I would have given five stars but for the minor niggles listed above

For what I paid, I’m absolutely blown away by the materials chosen to construct this lovely piece. The stitching was ok, the pillows are very nice, I am genuinely pleased with my purchase and hoping to purchase another one once my collection grows
