Q: I have a 3.5’ ball python in a 55 gallon tank. How much substrate do I need, and often does it need to be changed? First time snake owner here.

One bag each time. If you spot clean the poop regularly you can go 4-6 weeks before changing. Clean water dish regularly. Maintain correct temperature gradient 75-80 on cool end and 88-92 on warm end. And humidity level (60-70%).

This substrate works fantastic for larger snakes! I have my 24-year-old ball python on it and she loves it! If you need humidity in your area it holds it well, if you don’t just don’t wet it down and it works great that way as well. It’s very odor absorbent, and a great looking substrate to boot!

Q: How to store opened bag unused extra?

I clip the bag shut and store it in the garage.
