Muco Artino Model Shoulder Rest for 4/4-1/8 Violin

This shoulder rest is made well and of descent quality, however it does not fit a 4/4 violin very well. The adjustment screws can also be awkward and make it difficult to put it on and take it off easily. Since the padded part is not curved, for me, it forces my left wrist into an uncomfortable and tense angle. I would recommend another brand that has a padded and curved rest that extends the length of the violin. One size fits all is convenient, but it comes at a sacrifice of playing comfort and ease.

My daughter used it for a couple of months on her violin, but had so much trouble getting it to stay on that we've gone back to using a sponge for her shoulder rest. Hopefully when she upgrades to the next size it will work better.

I bought this based on ratings. However, I cannot use it. One size fits all does not mean it works well for all. The pad itself was too small for a 4/4 violin. The unit attaches properly, but does not provide enough pad support. With this unit, I could not hold the violin with just my chin and shoulder,- still need to use my hand.

I've been looking for the perfect chin rest for months now. I purchased four others at the same time or prior to this one. Some just plain didn't fit me good, while others didn't work well in spite of fitting me. I wanted one that helped prevent slipping off my shoulders, as my neck has arthritis and doesn't hold down like it once did. This shoulder rest is not only comfortable, but the rubber actually grips clothes pretty good. It is adjustable enough to fit any fiddle, something not all were as good at. It is small enough to cram into my rather cramped hard-shell case as well, which is a good plus. I'm happy with this one, and my search is now officially over.

I purchased this for my daughter who is using a 1/4 violin. I like that fact that it is adjustable and will grow with her. The adjustments are easily done and the rest seems sturdy. The feet grip the violin well, providing a good hold. My daughter loves it and she can hold the violin "no hands" more easily than with the old sponge and rubber band.12/5/13 update. We moved up to a 1/2 size violin a while ago and the fit is still very good. We have had the shoulder rest for just over 3 years now and it has held up well.

Only a few months after purchase, the rubber pad is starting to peel off, in multiple places. I'd hoped to use this for several years as my kids go through lessons - that obviously isn't going to happen. I could understand if one of my sons was using it, as they are sometimes hard on their possessions, but this fell apart after my meticulous and careful daughter used it for only a short time.

Shoulder rest did not come with screws to attach the legs.

Very good shoulder rest! Fits 1/4" violin perfectly. Compare to the other one I have bought for $25, my daughter said this one is more comfortable because of the thicker and soft padding.The only imperfection is the package. The small and soft paper box was squeezed and out of shape when I got it. One of the screws just ran out of the box before I opened the box. It is very possible that the screw fall out somewhere during the shipping process.
