UPDATE: I am impressed by the customer service here. The manufacturer reached out directly and apologized for my experience, while offering to send a replacement. I accepted, and a few days later a new unit arrived at my doorstep. It was already assembled - a sign that the product was test before shipping. I used the tamper this morning and wow! What a difference. Still feels lightweight, but the springs function correctly and the unit is solidly built. Updating to 5 stars for customer service and use of product.PART 1: Really disappointed in this product. The second I received it, I noticed the screw was stripped and does not allow for the metal to stay attached to the tamper handle. As a result, this product is completely useless. Words cannot express how poor the build quality is..

A good value spring loaded tamper.This works decently well and gets you an even tamp.This is not as nice as much more expensive tamps that have dual travel (the main spring not activated until tamp hits coffee

I have been using the coffee espresso tamper for a few weeks and I love it. It’s very well-made and performs beautifully, makes great espresso.

Terrible design, it gets stuck in the portafilter's cup if you don't have the right amount of coffee grinds in there. And then trying to take it out is like being stuck in hell.The spring-loaded black skirt blocks your access between the tool and the portafilter cup's lip so you have to try to lift it with your fingers, while holding the whole thing and trying to fit a knife blade in between the skirt and the lip. After that you wiggle your way in with the knife blade the fun begins. You try your best to not bend the knife or scratch the tool and it takes a good 30 seconds to get it out. This happens numerous times as you can imagine.By the way, the knife doesn't reach between the tool itself that's stuck inside the portafilter cup, and the cup. It's just the cup and the skirt. I got very angry with it last time and I just knocked the portafilter's cup onto the back of my kitchen chair. Came out, but so did the grinds, and a chunk of my chair's backrest edge. So happy I bought this!

Extremely durable, very solid, great quality and works perfectly with our machine! My husband uses it every morning for his coffee and it has made a HUGE difference! I highly recommend!
