Pastor Cymbala is certainly a pastor who follows the Lord’s lead in his life and his church. The world could certainly use more pastors like this who have a humble spirit and have a unique, God-given ability to translate some deep Christian topics into easy to understand words. The way he uses real-life stories from members of his own church is inspiring as well! If you want to learn more about the Holy Spirit, this is absolutely THE book for you!

Gives a biblical picture of Who the Holy Spirit really is. So many in the “Christian faith” acknowledge Him but don’t really understand His role, and this book helps so much to understand Him better! I’m about 1/2 way through and it’s helped me much. Worth reading and sharing with others. There is a Spirit world and Christians don’t seem to talk about it, but need to! We seem to think it’s “new age” when in honesty, I believe it’s we as saved saints, haven’t “gotten it” and slacked and sadly the world and it’s ruler has picked it up & twisted it and it’s meanings. We ourselves are a Spirit with a soul and physical body... we need to grasp that and try to understand the best we can to grow on that level so His Holy Spirit can fill us,to change us more and more like Himself <3

I just finished reading this wonderful book. I has a big conversion in 2001 and again in 2005 where i met up with the Holy Spirit. In 2001 while I was nearly dead on my bed, I prayed to Almighty God for wholeness. He said."I already created you whole." In looking on page #193 of this book it talks about praying for wholeness from the Holy Spirit. For a minute it makes me wonder why Pastor Jim didn't get the message that I received. I guess now he has if he reads this commentary. The book was very detailed, the stories were good. I skipped over the one with the warning. I already knew the Bible illuminated verses, but,I take away the fact that it is best to pray before reading the Bible. I think I read this book too fast. I spent two days reading it. It's one of those books you should savor and think about that is how good the info is. I hope for his work and for originality that this becomes a "NY Times Best Seller" Thank You..Rhonda L. Wagner

The average church in America today is dying. Sadly, that dying church is in denial. Churches are dying because church members have largely missed the key ingredient demanded for living the "Christ-like" life. For decades Jim Cymbalta has preached, taught, demonstrated, and lived thus type of life. "Spirit Rising" is the overflow from a life lived filled with God's Spirit. Whatever your theological background, this is a Biblically based word for you. Already, it has worked on me.

I have been so blessed by reading this book. It has confirmed the very things the Spirit has been leading me in. We are so busy with the cares of this world that often times we’ve allowed ourselves to get so caught up in distractions that we don’t take the time to draw closer to God so He can draw closer to us. This book really brings out how desperately we need the love of our Savior to experience love manifested in and through us by the power of His Spirit. I am desperate for more of the love of God to fill me and flow through me through His amazing and wonderful Holy Spirit.

I really liked this book because the author did not dwell on the more sensational aspects of the manifistations of the gifts or infilling of the Holy Spirit. Instead, the author gave life changing testimonies that we can all relate to. I would have liked to read more about how the Holy Spirit came to each person and perhaps more scriptures. But over all a clean clear view of Christian lives changed by the Spirit. It was not a step by step instructional. It was an overview of larger changes in people in his church that have had lasting results. The emphasis is on WAITING on the Spirit and WAITING in prayer. I thank the author for that reminder. Too many times we expect over night results.

THIS BOOK WILL GUIDE PASTORS AND MINISTERS OF CHRISTIANITY INTO HOW TO LEAD YOUR CHURCH INTO RESPONIBLE MOVING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. HE EXPLAINS HOW TO LET GO AND LET GOD. IT'S WHAT THE CHURCH NEEDS NOW AND WILL VERY MUCH NEED IN THE FUTURE. DON'T JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT ............READ IT ALONG SIDE YOUR BIBLE..........I DARE YOU

OK book, although not life changing for me. I've had a lot of issues in my life at that time and was looking for help in various Christian literature; however, I have found little help if any at all. I’ve read throughout the years his all book but he seems to be very pretentious.

Amazing book...couldn't put it down...read it within a few days. God really taught me so much through yet another of Jim Cymbala's books. Can't recommend this enough. It's a must read book!

This book wws brought my way by God Himself!I read it at the right time and now, I,m better poised to face this new mountain that just rose up suddenly!the testimonies in the book are are astonishing and faith stimulating!

Excellent book. Yes he is referring to the church in America but applies equally to the UK. We need to wake up and seek God as never before. Highly recommend.
