MONTSTAR Steel Block Carpenter Plane (7-inch, Red)

I think it's great product ,,as it's a handy ,,when I got it I was like it's so small in size ,,but it did it's work very very well ,,just amazing ,,,

Good enough to do small household work. The blade is not of high quality. I bought to fix some doors in my house and it did its job fine.

Not sturdy,yet product is ok,but costly, the beveled portion of the blade was not uniform,so it is very difficult to adjust the dept and the lateral movement of the blade, There is no adjustment screws or nuts for the adjustment of the blade lateral or up and down ,The blade tightening nut is made of cheach plastic,if tightens bit more would break ,thus the plane would render totaly useless, Usually the nut should be of cast iron , The material made for the blade is far inferior and not remain sharp even after two or three stroke,In fact this is a vintage model latest version of the plane is provided with the adjustment screws,The small industries in India dont catch up with latest technology in fact they seem to exploit the ignorant customers , I saw latest product with better features in Rs 300/- below. in other sites Eg Industry buying , Tolexo etc ,However Amazone service is very satisfactory, should check the quality of products before entairtaining the sellers . A totally different brand product was delivered. The block plane was in a totally unusable condition. Here's a list of all the defects with the plane:1. the Shoe was not flat at all it was uneven and concave in the middle so I had to sand it down on a flat surface with No. 80 and then No. 120, and No. 320 sand paper to make it flat.2. the Blade was in laughable condition it didn't even have a proper edge let alone sharp, had to grind it straight and then sharpen it to make it usable.3. the bottom of the Lever Cap was uneven so the blade was moving/rocking side to side when fastened, so i had to sand it down to flatten it.4. the Mouth was also uneven so the blade wasn't sitting flat so that also required sanding to flatten it.5. some of the paint on the lever cap was chipped.Overall it was a totally wasteful experience, I just wanted to see if this cheap Block plane was any good because I saw many good reviews, and also it's very cheap. I wouldn't recommend this product to any beginner wood worker or DIYers, not ideal for one time home users. the only good thing about this block plane is it's body is made of good cast iron so it is sturdy and the lever cap screw is made of steel which is good.I had to spend more money and effort into making this block plane usable.For Rs. 300* I think it's a gimmick and not worth buying unless you have no problem putting in all the effort fine tuning it.I have attached pictures of the defects, mostly after I rectified all the defects and fine tuned it a little.p.s. I didn't bother returning it because I didn't want to go through all the hassle of returning it for just Rs. 300*

It is such a handy tool. My jack plane is heavy and could not use it all the time. So I have ordered this block plane. I use it for smoothing and chamfering of sides. And it is a joy to use single handed. Tool was not sharp so I had to sharpen it. Now it is my most used tool. You can just pick it up any time and does the job very well.

Product finishing and looks are good but problem in using it.1. Blade fixing nob adjustment is poor. Blade slips backwards immediately while using.2. Blade needs to be sharpen before using. Nothing included to sharpen .

Useful tool for quick finishing

Qood quality and long lasting. Blade is not that sharp rest is okay.
