I bought this after burning up my stihl 391 because I stupidly ran it without remembering to put oil my gas. Let’s just say I’ve never forgotten to mix since.Anyhow, this fit right in no problem. I grinded and polished the cylinder bore out just a hair and poped this new piston head in. Now my 391 is back on its feet and cutting like a boss.I’m no expert in these matters. But I fried my piston head pretty damn good. My thought is that the new compression rings (since they do not rotate around the piston head once installed) will “break in” to your scored cylinder to at least some degree. Will it have the power of your original brand new saw? No. But will it still cut through a 30” piece of dry madrone? Yes! Just keep your chain sharp and use high octane fuel. Boom good to go.
