Q: When folded does the bottom 'dirty' side touch the top 'clean' side where the baby lays?

No. You would have to fold it in the longest side first to cover all the “dirty side” then fold the thirds into each other.

Q: Can I just purchase the carrying bag?

No, the mat comes with the bag. But you can take the mat out and have a "home mat" and put your other mat in the carrying case, if need be. I use mine for home use but I still have the bag in case I need to take it on vacation or something. Hope this helps!

Q: What’s the best way to clean the mat? It seems to hold the odors even after wiping down with disinfectant wipe

I use a disinfectant spray mixed with fabric softener and water in a spray bottle--works really well and smells really good too

I really like the design of the bag and the mat. It’s nice and compact, but sadly the mat started to crumble on the first use. I do not think the material is fit for purpose.
