A much sought-after single malt with the massive peat-smoke thats typical of southern Islay - but also offering a dryness that turns it into a truly interesting dram. The 16 year old has become a benchmark Islay dram from the Lagavulin distillery. Nose: More like Lapsang Souchong tea than Lapsang Souchong! One of the smokiest noses from Islay. Its big, very, very concentrated, and redolent of iodine, sweet spices, good, mature sherry and creamy vanilla. Stunning. Palate: Very thick and rich. A massive mouthful of malt and sherry with good fruity sweetness, but also a woonderful sweetness. Big, powerful peat and oak. Finish: Long, spicy finish, figs, dates, peat smoke, vanilla.

You've never tried anything like this product before!
I bought this for my husband because of Ron Swanson in Parks and Rec. In the show, Ron just keeps on going on about how this is by far the best whisky in the world so we were naturally curious. The moment you open the bottle, it has this unbelievably amazing burning wood smell which you find in the taste too. It's such a unique and distinctive smell and taste, I have honestly never tried anything like that before. I would totally recommend it... Thank you, Ron Swanson! Great tastes indeed!

Not bad, but I wouldn't buy a 70cl
It's very dark and smoky. The darkest and smokiest I have had so far (it's almost like sitting next to someone smoking a cigar). After the almighty kick it yields to rich and spicy finish but doesn't last all that long on the tongue.Personally I would add a half an ice cube of pure water to this one. I usually use stones but this one really needs a tiny bit.Not an everyday drink for most. Still very nice.

Islay beauty
A wonderful addition to my collection.Beautifully complex peat smoke with notes of oak, cereal, saltiness and light iodine throughout. Thick mouth-feel with a deep lingering aftertaste of smoke and sherry sweetness. If your one for nosing, expect: smoke (lots of it), spicy sweetness and iodine.Overall, one to remember.

Lovely still. Not for me
I love the smoke in this drink. I'm no whisky expert but tasting this was something else. But, like talisker it has a sea side sort of style to it. Or for me it does. And I just want to taste a smokey whiskey without thay sea air taste. Because I live by the sea its not whay I'm looking for

If you are looking for something different, bur really nice to drink, then this is for you. Smells peaty, but does not taste peaty.

Ridiculous price for just 20cl.
The whisky itself is excellent. Ridiculously expensive for just 20cl though. Well packaged in a full size bottle box. Feel conned but that's another life lesson for me.
