They are used for holding in place the corners of the work piece when making picture frames, joining skirting board and fixing mouldings and beadings and all general frame work. By pressing on the spring loaded pliers you expand and open the spring clamp. You then position the two ends of the spring clamp around your frame and release the pressure on the pliers. The spring clamps then close and lock rigidly onto the faces of the work piece. The set contains a pair of multi position spring pliers, and four of each of the following springs - 3 1/2", 2 3/4", 2" and 1 1/4". 95mm maximum capacity x 55mm maximum depth.

Its ok for big stuff
If you're clamping together large frames then this is a helpful tool, however for small projects like jewellery boxes the jaws don't close enough to apply any pressure, the jaws also leave marks where they dig into the wood.I make small boxes 12" x 6" with 15mm thick wood and this is no use at all as the jaws just don't clamp down to that size

A brilliant way to clamp mitres, very easy to use with a strong clamping action!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My wife asked me to make her a 5 pointed star to use as a wreath for a Christmas decoration. I figured out a way of clamping the star points with gear I had in the garage, but I could not figure out an easy way to clamp the internal mitres. I did a little research and decided to buy this kit. I wish that I had bought it years ago. It is a brilliant way to clamp virtually any mitred joint, even obtuse ones. It is very quick and easy to use with a very strong clamping action. There are 4 sets of 4 springs of different sizes to accommodate most work sizes and you can mix and match if you need more than 4 clamps. See the attached video. This will be my 'go to' mitre clamping system from now on!It is a brilliant bit of kit and it solved my problem easily.
