This does exactly what I needed it to do. PERFECT!
Works exactly as advertised. I got this to run sound from my Samsung smart TV into a vintage stereo audio receiver. The TV has the Q Symphony feature that works great with the Samsung 7.1.2 sound bar system I also purchased, but that system's 19 tiny drivers plus sub don't quite match the presence and separation of a 60 Watt stereo driving my vintage loudspeakers when playing concert videos. Don't get me wrong: the home theater soundbar/sub/rear system is great for movies and theatrical content, but I glad to have the option of optical out to a receiver for musical content. The only downside is all the navigation you have to do on the Samsung TV switching from one output to the other.

Digital Audio Converter is a waste of money.
Bought this to hook my Senheiser wireless to my new TV as the TV doesn't have the necessary port.Followed the poorly written instructions and....nothing. Light comes on but....nothing. Off to Best Buy to have a professional hook me up.What a waste.

Finally, inexpensive that sounds good
Given my previous luck with using an inexpensive DAC for my Smart TV, this one is good. It sounds surprisingly decent given its cost and the remote is a welcome change from alts that I have bought in the past. It has a mute button for the commercial crappola and the Toslink feed sounds better than its modest price. The Toslink works quite well while the HDMI is feeding my soundbar. That way all I do is turn down the soundbar to 0 and turn on this little DAC and grab my headphones. It has good audio with decent volume control. Now the HDMI cable can deliver a higher level of audio, but I really do not need that. I have a 1k DAC for my separate music needs and when watching TV I personally do not focus on the audio. This little guy delivers the goods. I hope I get a couple of years from it. One last minor point: The type on the top is at least small, unobtrusive and in gray. In other words, low key, not the typical visually vulgar and clumsy that is too often the case.

This works wonderfully to add a volume control to my "NOT SMART TV".
This works wonderfully to add a volume control to my "NOT SMART TV".The output for most newer TVs is NO LONGER a headphone output. I use an amplified set of speakers to give my TV a much better sound than the built-in speakers can provide. This provides the "Volume Control", as the "Line Out" signal is NOT controlled as a headphone output would be.

Works
I needed remote volume control for my receiver. Which it does. It does the job. My complaints are that if you power it of and on again the volume defaults to the loudest setting. The other complaint is the remote doesn't have a code for a universal remote. Yes you can use a learning remote but good luck finding a decent one for cheap these days.Minor inconveniences aside it does what I needed it to.

Just what I needed!
I needed this to be able to control my speakers with a remote control.
