No mess, safe and easy
I have been using these toast bags for grilled cheese sandwiches, toasted peanut butter sandwiches as favorite snacks of my clients. It is safe to use. The bread does not burn. It prevents the cheese/ peanut butter from dripping through the toaster. No mess, yet reusable. Get your money’s worth. I recommend this to everyone. Makes job quick & easy.

Good sandwich, hard to clean
It works. You get a real grilled cheese sandwich. But, it’s hard to get the buttered bread into the bag. And some of the cheese melts out into the bottom of the bag (you know, gravity and all) while it’s toasting and it’s super hard to clean it out. You have to use scalding hot water to make the cheese that leaked out into the bag re-melt to get it out of the bag, all without ripping the bag if you want to use it again. What a pain. Makes a good grilled cheese sandwich, surprisingly good. But the clean up is so hard, you might as well have made it in a skillet. It’s easier to wash the frying pan than this bag. I’m capable of using a skillet. I mainly bought these bags because I thought they’d be easier to clean than a pan, not harder.

Don't use the highest setting
4 stars bc there are no instructions for what toaster setting to use. FYI don't use the highest setting. At least the product works

Baffled by the positive reviews
Just going purely by the product description and intended use, this product is an utter failure. My wife loves grilled cheese. She likes it plain with no butter before grilling, so I thought this might be perfect for her. There’s no instructions, no advice on preventing fires or anything really of value on the packaging. As others have noted, you better use some thin bread, and the flat seams all around made us have to turn the sandwich sideways to get it in the bag. Since it’s sideways, the whole sandwich doesn’t drop all the way down into the toaster. As far as effectiveness, in her own words, it turned out “mid.” The bread was toasted nice and brown, but the cheese wasn’t melted, so we ran another cycle and monitored. The bread started getting really dark but the cheese still didn’t melt well. I call that a fail.Cheese oozed out of the bottom of course (gravity be like) and made a mess of the inside of the pocket, which was not at all easy to clean up. So from start to finish, I’d classify it all as a fail. Far easier to clean a griddle or pan and make it old school. These might work in a toaster oven, but then they really aren’t needed at all.Don’t ask me how things turned out when I made mine with butter. It was a disaster. Butter everywhere inside and out of the pocket, and I got soggy bread with cheese in the middle even after two full cycles. Buttered bread didn’t toast at all.No idea how anyone could think these are any good. For the price, I almost put this in for a refund but I just can’t be bothered. Some improvements might be to have squared seams so an actually sandwich fits into the pocket. But I’m sure that would jack up the overall cost.If you want to try it for the novelty go for it, but I absolutely would not recommend this and would go zero stars if I could.

Not as great as expected
This is a cool idea, but not very practical. So you make the sandwich and like usual grilled cheese, you have to butter the outside slices of the very THIN bread. Well, then you have to figure out how to get this buttered sandwich into the small mesh bag without getting it all over your hands (you can't). You have to set your toaster up very high, which means you must wait several minutes to get an unevenly "toasted" sandwich. Then you have to get it out of the bag. In the time that it took you to do all of this, you could have just made your sandwich, heated up a skillet, and grilled your sandwich the regular way... Without getting it all over your fingers. The choice is yours.
