Low wattage i9 easy upgrade
I have an HP Omen that came with an i5 and RTX2060; although that's a decent chip, I needed a bit more horsepower for video editing so moving from 6-core to 8 core with hyperthreading and higher clock speed has made a difference. I game with the PC too, and of course, that hasn't suffered! Core i9's are known to get a little warm, and even this 65W version can warm up - but nothing too dramatic and the stock HP air cooler (which is better than the rubbish Intel one) can deal with it.

Buy a z390 motherboard if buying this bprocessor
Excellent processor but ensure you buy a z390 motherboard if you want to fully utilise the power of this processor. I have this paired with an asrock b365m phantom gaming 4, seems fine when gaming but if running a stress test can only maintain the boost clock at full load for 28 secs after which it drops down to 38 ghz. If you increase the power limits the motherboard cannot handle this and the system crashes.

Best value/performance CPU in 2020
No reason to buy an i7 8700/k anymore! I sold mine and bought the i9 9900 for just 80 more.BCLK overclock (102.5MHz) easily, can be pushed further. With overclock, the 9900 easily matches the stock 9900K at as little as half the cost.Works on Z390 and most Z370 motherboards after bios update. Has been shown to work on Z270 and Z170 but only by moddersI9 10900 is significantly more expensive and Z490 motherboards are also that much more expensive for the the same features as Z390 and even Z370.In June 2020, this is the best value high end CPU
