Very easy and forgiving to setup. The piece that houses the battery and motor compartments plug and plays between the trmie one and the car you can construct. Additionally, you will need rechargeable batteries for they are not included. Enjoy!

Fun little windmill that comes with great detail and instructions on how wind energy works. Need a pretty strong wind to actually make it work and will only charge a single battery. Great way to show others interested in wind energy.Highly recommended

My 7 yr old loves wind turbines! He was thrilled to recieve this for his birthday. It was easy to assemble. My only gripe is if you're going to charge so much for it, you should include the single rechargeable battery needed to make it work. After spending $40+ for the item, I had to spend another $15 for batteries.

Assemble is easy for an 11 years' old. Information about wind and wind energy included in the manual / booklet is great. But that's all about it. Problems:1) As pointed out by one other reviewer, when in generating mode ("arrows on the nose cone point to 3"), the turbine blades turns clockwise, not counter-clockwise said on page 9 of the manual.2) Outdoor use to turn the turbine is practically not possible. In an indoor experiment with a powerful fan turned on to generate the highest wind, it can turn the turbine. We do not see charging indication lights on. We'll update this review if we ever be able to make charge of a battery.At best, this is an educational tool for illustration purpose. Product needs to be improved. Also, it seems that for those customers who got a free product to test, their reviews are in general on the generous side.Update on 01/22/2021:The red charging light is on after about an hour. We then continuously charge the battery for about 3 hours. The battery works to turn the windmill to a fan (spinning very slowly, though). My son turn the turbine into a car; however the gears are poorly constructed that they cannot drive the car at all. We put the charged battery into a Thomas train and the train drives nice and fast. As such, I change the overall rating from 2 to 3.

Great concept for kids to learn about wind power. However, it's too short. They should include a pole extension as it's only about 2.5 feet off the ground. Wind would have to be pretty strong to turn it. Also, the feet/stand that you install it into to stand it upright is made of very thin plastic w a thin tab holding it together. Well it broke immediately, all 3 when wind hit the windmill. I spent 1.5 hr building a new stand out of wood so it now stays up and working. They should have used metal and the design w a thin tab connecting the pole to the feet is a terrible idea. Haven't had a chance yet to check to see if it recharges the battery so I'll have to update this. However, they should have 1) had 2 rechargeable battery slots as there is rarely a toy that requires just 1 AA battery to test the battery in, and 2) should have included 2 rechargeable batteries as they are hard to find to buy. Hardly anybody sells rechargeable batteries anymore. I looked all over and went to a specialty battery shop.Update: cheaply made. It's base is made of plastic, breaks easily. It's too short to catch hardly any wind. Unstable. Son lost interest in it pretty quick. Also, didn't come w rechargeable batteries which was hard to find out in the store!

got for my boyfriend for a fathers day gift, thought it was absolutely cute and the fact that it charges a battery was even better. (hes an electrical engineer who specializes in wind turbines) he loved it!only downside was the directions seemed to be written backwards? or it wasnt wired correctly lol but he still loves it anyway
