Good Budget AV amp
I only have a small room so I did not want to spend excessive amounts of money on a surround sound system. I looked at all the usual suspects for the amp but the Yamaha RX-V6A ticked all of the boxes for price and quality for a 4k 7.1 capable machine. The basic setup was complete in Half an Hour and after downloading the Multicast and AV control Apps, getting the unit online for streaming was equally as seamless. Audio quality was impressive using Yamaha brand speakers but I would imagine any speakers you may have would be more than fine. Image quality was first rate. I liked the Automatic speaker spacing function of the amp, too. This saved me quite a lot of time in walking around the room with a tape measure manually inputting speaker distances from the listening position. I am very satisfied with the overall performance of this unit at this price point.

Do NOT buy this if you’re a gamer!
I wasted £580 on what is unquestionably the worst AV receiver i have ever come across. The sound is bland, the instructions are useless, the settings are complex. Atmos doesn’t work. Unless you have the settings off the app in in ‘surround decoder’. (After many MANY!!! hours of fiddling and resetting) you will not get surround sound. All, an i do mean ALL settings for the other options do centre, left and right with sub. But the rear 2 speakers are in stereo. You cant tweek it or adjust it. Ive actually reverted back to my old onkyo TXNR636 2013. Because it is head an shoulders above the yamaha! Furious with myself for not reading reviews. It is GARBAGE!!! If you’re a PC or PS5 gamer. Do not under any circumstances buy the YAMAHA RX-V6A. It is REALLY bad! Honestly one of the worst ive used. I will NEVER buy another yamaha product ever again!!

Good machine but shame that Yamaha didn't honour the cashback promotion
The receiver is good although the volume control is a law into itself. However, Yamaha would not honour its cashback promotion because it said sales through Amazon are excluded even though it was advertised on the Amazon website. You do not know that at time of purchase and only find out once the claim for cashback is submitted. With the help of Richer Sounds who were the actual seller and by my pointing out they were probably in breach of the Unfair Contract Terms Act and possibly the Trade Description Act, they relented and paid . So be wary if Yamaha are offering a promotion of some kind in the future. Make sure it will apply if buying through Amazon.

This is a superb hub for an audio and a audio-visual home entertainment system.
This AV receiver integrates all five viewing sources for my huge-but-humble 17-year-pld plasma television, while providing HiFi sound reproduction. In fact, through the HDMI AV inputs, it knows which viewing source has been turned-on and automatically selects that source to be viewed. When I turn 'off' my TV, this AV Receiver automatically turns itself 'off' too.At the same time, with it's FM/VHF, ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi inputs and Phono/Line inputs, HiFi music can be chosen from a wide range of audio sources, including my original HiFi system (that is still intact and that this AV Receiver effectively supercedes.) The single line-out, nominally to allow the system to be extended into other 'rooms', I have connected 'into' my original HiFi amplifier, so that I can still use my original cassette tape deck, mini-disk and audio CD writer to record any music or speech that I wish.In addition, the operation of the Yamaha AV Receiver can be controlled from a program ('Musicast') loaded, free, onto my smartphone; with all the features of the Receiver clearly displayed and easy to operate.Happiness and contentment comes partly from knowing when you are lucky; and, boy!, am I lucky to be able to afford this set-up. My AV/HiFI system is nothing more than a whole stack of disparate, new and second-hand machines. And, this Yamaha AV receiver brings them all together into one system. I was born in the year 1956; and the electronic transistor has made all this possible. Wow!

Fab bit of kit - but OMG, the wires!!!
The sound reproduction is fantastic. Running 10 speakers for dolby atmos, it really does sound like you are in the cinema.Just one complaint - wires - OMG! I've never seen so many wires in one place, from cat-6 ethernet, RCA plug ins, antenna cables, and all the speakers cables - you need a good cabinet with plenty of space to hide the spaghetti mess.

Content protection SCMS-T
I am very happy with the product and up to recently I would give it 5 stars, however I have came across an issue..My partner often complain that I put volume too high, so I really get to enjoy my home theater on my own.Recently I've decided that for those days we watch films together, I'll use Bluetooth Transmission so that she can listen to speakers and I use headphones. When I paired the headphones with my Yamaha RX-V6A I got a message:"The connected speaker does not support content that is copyright protected"No audio would go through..I am using Amazon Firestick and watching content from YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc. so all genuine. When I contacted Yamaha support, reply I got:"As some HDMI inputs/content providers will have a content protection called SCMS-T, your Yamaha adheres to this and will also require your connected headphones to also support this..."I ended up returning headphones and bought Yamaha YH-E700A headphones instead. Above my initial budged but works fine now, and experience worth the price.
