My old can opener just wasn't cutting it anymore, so I needed a replacement. I live with a semi-Neanderthal savage, so I wasn't enthused about investing a ton in a can-opener, but still it had to be replaced. I stumbled upon the reviews for this make/model and decided this would be the one. I have to admit, I am very pleased with its performance.After aligning the can and piercing it with the lever, the rest of the operation is auto-magic: it proceeds around the entire can and then automagically stops when the can lid has been completely cut. If you are using a "typical" sized can or smaller, you can walk away and the process is hands-free until you remove the can. However, larger cans (like a 28oz can of diced tomatoes, for example), you will need to support that can or the whole kit-n-caboodle with topple over.The cutting mechanism is easily removed for a quick cleaning and drying, which is ideal to keep things as clean as possible.There is a knife sharpener on the back of the can opener. I was under the impression that it would be an electrically-operated sharpener, but it is not. Rather, it is a manual sharpener that is fixed in place: you have to do all the work. I used one of the Neanderthal savage's knives to test this out, and it provided a rough sharpening that I wouldn't necessarily recommend. There are better sharpening options out there that I would use rather than wreck a good knife. With that said, I bought this as a can opener, not a knife sharpener, so the knife sharpening ability, while it would have been nice if it was of a higher quality, it isn't really a factor in my opinion that this is an overall excellent can opener that I highly recommend.

This can opener works as a can opener should! Easy to use with simple mechanics. Build quality feels nice & sturdy. I will update if there are any problems with it in the future, but as of right now, it is GREAT! 5 stars overall.

Purchased this electric can opener as a gift to someone & by the second use it stopped working. However, he got someone to fix it & it started working fine afterwards. He liked the design, how easy it was to use & the different functions the could be used for. Overall its great can opener

Oh man, what a disaster! I have owned can openers that work in the same fashion as this one, and although they can sometimes be difficult, but a little cleaning or adjustment would get them working properly right away. This one was simply not one of those. It would start, cut open a little, and then slip out without completing the cut around the can. I t wouldn't even stay held on to the can opener like others that may not complete the cut, but would continue around and staying held onto the can opener. With this one, I would have to keep starting it over just before where it stopped previously. I tried so many cans, various ways to hold the lever down, and repositioning the can, lever, or anything else I could think of. The only thing worthy of a star is the knife sharpener, and it is only a ceramic draw sharpener that is difficult to get a knife in at all. It was inexpensive, so I really wanted it to work, but I believe the magnet part of it is not engineered properly, along with the gears that grip and are supposed to hold on to the can, also seem to be poorly engineered. Maybe it's a poor attempt at copying other brands that have been working for decades, who knows? I'm sadly disappointed in this product.

Well made. Works smoother, low noise. Unfortunately we haven’t have many cans to need it because store now mostly stock can lids.

Perfect counter top electric can opener for people like me who can't grip a can safely during opening. cans are opened quickly and the lid is held securely just like when I was a kid. perfect for the young old and disabled.
