Worked great on LS3 Camaro OEM STARTER
I bought this to protect my starter due to the fact I put headers on my fifth GEN Camaro and it fits great. I did use safety wire to ensure that it wouldn’t shift or move around much even though it has strong Velcro. Others indicated that they would use metal zip ties, I just didn’t have any at the time. Seems to be doing the job and I am not having any issues with the starter overheating and denying me the pleasure of firing up my car.

Perfect for a 5th gen Chevy Camaro SS (LS3) starter
Like the title states, will fit on any 5th generation (2010-2015) Chevrolet Camaro SS starter motor. It fits perfectly around the starter, and you SHOULD use some form of zip ties (metal preferably), in order to keep the heat wrap material from undoing the only velcro keeping it together…I was able to re-use the factory heat shield that goes to the starter, and it helps to further hold the heat-resistant wrap in place. So, to anyone looking to solve their “hot start” Chevy/GM starter issues, this is one of the remedies to do so. If you run stainless steel long tube headers or any aftermarket headers with no heat shields or ceramic coating, this is an inevitable issue with heatsoak that will encounter…You’ll also want to get extra ground cables (switch to starter cables work well) and place them in the trunk, where the battery is. 4-gauge is good for what I used, and the ~3/8” opening on both ends will fit on the ground bolt in the trunk, and also to the ground on the chassis/frame, in the engine bay. In the engine bay, you’ll connect one end to the ground that is connected to the engine block on the driver’s side; right underneath the front most head bolt.

Excellant quality mini starter heat shield wrap
I installed this DEI heat shield wrap over a new mini starter on a SB Chevy engine. I did trim off part of the end of the wrap so the foil would not short out against the battery wire connector on the end of the solenoid. I also secured the wrap with a SS zip tie around the starter. This heat shield, along with wrapping the exhaust pipe with header wrap, should cure the starter heat soak problem I was having.

It works!
I installed this on the small block chevy in my 71 el camino. I just installed headers and most of you I'm sure know that headers "heat" and GM starters don't play well together. I wrapped this around the starter at the time of the header install and it seams to be working fine. It installed very easily. I recommend it.

Nice protection for a fair price.
Fits Ford Powerstroke starter perfect. Fast and easy install with hook and loop stays on. Reflective material and reasonably thick fibers look like they will provide more than good enough insulation for this purpose.

Good fit
My old stock Chevy starter got heat soak a couple of times then died. I put in a new mini starter and this cover was a perfect fit. DEI makes a good product!

Heat soled starter solved?(so far)
This heat shield was pretty straight forward to install. Had to Jack up the front of my36 Chevy sedan to wrap my mini starter but I have not had heat soak problem yet. Too early to tell but I will report back
