Level Lock+ Deadbolt Smart Lock - World's Smallest Smart Lock plus Apple Home Key - Level App for iOS & Android - Works with Apple Home (Polished Brass)

Love this lock .... but let me qualify that. First, I updated the lock firmware to Matter over Thread. Second, I've been using home automation light switches, outlets, locks, etc. for over 20 years and have recently been upgrading everything to Matter over Thread. This means I have a pretty good Thread network in my home and the more Thread devices you have, the more reliable the network. I previously had Kevo Touch locks that were reliable as long as you had Kevo app on your phone and there was not some form of WiFi lockup or issue. In addition, I was replacing batteries a lot.The things I like about this lock is that it doesn't look any different than the standard deadbolt lock; it is very reliable; battery life if better than what I had; the battery is easier to access than on the Kevo; it works with Apple Home and supports Apple Keys. In addition, the ability to control with Siri is another plus that I didn't have with Kevo.The ONLY negative I have at this time is it would be nice to be able to see battery status in Apple Home. For that you have to go to the Level app and then look at settings for the device and at this time even the Level App is showing battery status as unknown. I would like to see this in the Apple Home device settings under device status. I'm assuming I will probably get an alert when the battery needs to be replaced. That simply hasn't happened yet so we will see.

I ordered this smart lock for my garage do, as I don't liked to carry a physical house key, yet I like to park in my garage. I do have an August Lock on my front door, which has never had any issues in the more than 5 years I've had it installed, so I thought I would give this more basic smart lock a try, since I don't really need anything as fancy as an August Lock on my garage door.The lock came packaged well, and included everything needed to install it, including the CR2 battery.Physically installing the lock was straightforward and fairly quick, as was setting up the lock to work with my smart devices, like Apple Home.After installing, the lock was working great, and everything was going well, until about two and half weeks from install, when I got home, and the lock would not unlock with my phone. Instead, I was greeted with a message that the CR2 battery needed to be replaced, as it didn't have enough battery life to open the lock. "Okay. No problem," I thought, "maybe the battery they sent with it was just a dud, or had been sitting on the shelf in the package too long." Around to the front door I went to let myself in. Later, I went and bought a new 2-pack of CR2 batteries from Walmart and installed it in the lock. At that point, everything was back to normal...well, for about another 2 weeks, when the same situation happened again. Again, I replaced the battery, and it was back to normal, but dead again after less than 3 weeks.This thing is chewing through batteries like no device I've ever seen. It wouldn't be too terrible, had the batteries been AA or even AAA, as I keep those around in a surplus, but this lock uses CR2 batteries, which literally NOTHING else in my house uses, so I would have to keep these on hand just for this lock to replace every 2 weeks or so. Additionally, outside of the battery being dead within a few weeks, I'm not getting any advanced notice of the batteries needing to be replaced soon, just a notice when it literally is too dead to open the lock at the time I want it opened; this is asinine. Needless to say, I decided this lock was just not worth it, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled my old deadbolt, and thew this thing in the garbage.At this time, I cannot recommend this lock to anyone, as it has serious issues with battery drain, which will cost you a fortune in batteries, not to mention the inconvenience of the whole thing. It might be less likely to go dead quickly if it's not connected to smart home devices, since it would essentially just be sitting there until you use your phone in proximity of it, but the whole reason I ordered this lock was for its ability to connect to smart home devices.

Love the sleek design and non-smart lock look of the Level Lock+. Integrates into multiple smart home ecosystems, and love that I can use Apple Home Key to quickly gain entrance. Highly recommend for someone looking for a quality smart lock!

The Level app is user-friendly, and I enjoy the added convenience of being able to manage access and monitor my lock status remotely. Overall, this smart lock perfectly combines functionality and aesthetics, providing a secure and stylish solution for my home.While the Level Lock+ Deadbolt Smart Lock has some appealing features, I experienced several issues that detracted from its overall performance. First, the installation was more complicated than anticipated, requiring some adjustments to my existing deadbolt fitting. Moreover, despite its claim of seamless integration, I encountered connectivity issues with Apple Home Keys, struggling to get consistent performance. The Level app, though user-friendly, occasionally failed to sync with the lock, causing frustration when trying to manage access remotely. Additionally, for the price point, I expected more reliable performance and a longer battery life than what I've experienced. While it looks great, the functionality needs improvement for it to be a truly effective smart lock solution.

Install of the lock and pairing with apple homekit was quick and easy. Just what I was looking for in a smart lock. I was also able to have it rekeyed to match my standard Schlage key. The recent free firmware update to matter was an unexpected surprise. The level lock+ now exceeds my expectations for battery life and connectivity. Locking and unlocking is now instant.

I love the design of this lock, but it isn't the most user-friendly. I consider myself quite tech savvy, but even I had issues getting this to work, let alone my less technically literate relatives.
