I got this because I live in a place that has a crawl space filled with exposed Romex, and I am always worried about the "mouse eat wire" syndrome. Performance has been good. In my area, we experience frequent power outages and this will report them immediately, no matter where I am. The bonus is that they also tell you how many other Ting customers are experiencing the same outage, so I can gauge how big the outage is.The cost of this item and the service is very low in terms of the peace-of-mind it offers. What's not to like? Easy setup, easy to use, and easy to monitor on their app. I do feel the notifications or readings could potentially be off. We kept getting notifications of a brownout and/or power outages when in fact we werent.

We had a presentation about homeowners insurance and heard many insurance companies recommended this product to help prevent fires. The Ting was super easy to install and from what I can tell works well. For adding safety for my family, I could not recommend enough.

This unit has had an awful smell since opening it from the box. Smells like burnt plastic and even after now being plugged in after a month, it's still emitting this foul order that does not make me feel comfortable. Not sure if I got a defective unit, but going to unplug as I don't think it's safe.
